Our Projects

When the cause and efforts required are huge then it becomes essential to join hands with people, corporates, government organisations, NGO’s and societies to bring coordinated intent and efforts to achieve the vision and dream of Keep India Beautiful campaign throughout India. It is envisaged that Keep India Beautiful would become an umbrella group to link people and all other groups nationally to widen the scope of activities and ensuring that a holistic approach is taken so that a verifiable and equitable result is achieved for a clean, green and healthy India.

To start with, Keep India Beautiful would focus on following programs:

Purpose of this program is to reduce/clean litter and improve the beauty and quality of environment. Plantation of tree samplings and placement of dustbins would be an essential part of the campaign.

Construction & Maintenance of School Toilets

A recent survey showed that around 30 percent Government run schools in India have no toilets and those who have it are in poor condition and many girls quote this as a big reason for dropping out of school. Another recent study states that in over 60% of the government schools, students avoid using the toilets. The main reason for this is lack of hygiene or (in case of girls) privacy. Same or even worse is the situation when it comes to Anganwadi centres.

With 60 per cent people involved in open defecation, India is the world’s capital of open defecation. A recent research states that it is the malodour that discourages people from using public toilets.

Also when it comes to cities, such a basic and vital thing as public toilets are as critical as any large infrastructure project to make cities liveable. There should be ‘parity’ — sufficient numbers of toilets for women users — and special needs for the disabled must be accommodated.

An inclusive city begins with availability of public toilets. Anti-vandal fittings, enhanced safety measures combined with better location, good maintenance and recycling of resources would help meet this objective and Keep Beautiful India works for it.

The purpose of Keep India Beautiful is to lead, challenge and inspire people from all walks of life to strive for a sustainable and litter free environment. What better way it would be than to inculcate and imbibe the concept of environment protection and improvement in School and University students who are future decision makers and responsible for healthy environment by their daily actions.

Their input and involvement is very crucial as they have unique perspective, which can introduce new ideas and address issues which adults might have overlooked. Also young people with their creative bent of mind will improve research and policies related to environment and ecology in a big positive way.

Keep India Beautiful works with different Schools, Colleges and Institutes to achieve the dream of “a clean, green and healthy India”.

When it comes to viewing Public walls in India they are not in the best condition and more times than less are responsible for creating a bad image of public places. With several posters, paan stains, and people urinating on them – our walls have to go through a lot. Keep India Beautiful works towards giving those dirty walls a much-needed makeover with beautiful paintings and colorful works of art. By transforming those walls into appealing with colourful paintings, people would deter from urinating, affixing posters and spitting paan stains on them.

Recycling

Our planet is being constantly recycled since millions of years. As responsible people we need to play our part and organise our daily waste so that it can be disposed of in a better way without causing pollution and making our world untidy and unhealthy.

“One man’s trash is another man’s treasure”. Every person, home and organisation generates garbage or waste products every day. Everything that we no longer need becomes waste and how we dispose of it is important to our communities and this planet. So much of this waste can be recycled and in a better way if we carefully sort & separate our waste. India is full of waste collectors, we can make it easier by learning how to separate and be more useful to this planet. We can create less waste and pollution by being more careful and more responsible.

Keep India Beautiful works to maintain a prosperous and productive recycling system with the objective of conservation of natural resources as well as formulating sustainable approaches for the management of discarded materials. We come up with tools and resources with clear messages to community members, decision makers and news media about the important benefits that recycling provides to our ecology and environment. We develop meaningful partnerships with corporate, government & civic entities, nonprofit leaders and educational institutions to bring about important changes in the way we use, manage and recycle resources.
